Where is anyone actually dockwalking in Palma now?

Second week here and I'm struggling to work out where you're allowed to walk. A lot of the yard and the main quays are gated with security who turn you away. Where are people getting CVs into hands at the moment? And what time?

Gates are the reality now and it's not going back. What still works: Be at the coffee places by the yard entrances at 07:15. That's where crew are before they go through, and a polite thirty-second conversation there beats a CV shoved in a gate. Register properly with the agencies in person. Not an online form — walk in, be pleasant, be memorable. Get on the daywork boards and take everything, including the horrible jobs. One washdown gets you inside the gate legitimately, and then you're on the dock talking to people. And be visible in the same places at the same times. People hire the face they've seen three times.

The crew houses themselves are a network. Half the jobs I've heard about came from someone in the kitchen saying "our bosun needs a hand tomorrow".

Also worth walking the smaller marinas rather than only the big yard. Fewer people bother, and a 30m boat needs a deckhand just as much.
