Yacht engineering runs from a sole engineer on a 30m — where you own every system on board — to a chief with a team on a 90m. Main engines are rarely what breaks. Air conditioning, watermakers, sanitation, tenders and anything electrical will fill most of your day.

Progression is ticket-driven and sea-service-driven in equal measure: AEC, then Y4 through Y1, with tonnage and kW limits that matter more than the number. Log your service from day one — the exam is rarely what delays an upgrade, the paperwork is.
